Additive Masterbatches

Functional additive masterbatches fix the problems that slow a line down: films that block on the reel, melt fracture on the die, bags that won't run on high-speed converting machines, or parts that fade outdoors.

The Range

What our additive masterbatches cover

  • Slip and anti-block combination packs for blown and cast film
  • PPA processing aids to eliminate melt fracture
  • UV stabilizers for outdoor film, raffia and moulded parts
  • Antioxidants for processing and long-term heat stability
  • Non-blooming formulations on virgin LLDPE carriers

FAQ

Questions about additive masterbatches

  • What is additive masterbatch?

Additive masterbatch is a concentrate of functional additives, such as slip agents, anti-block, processing aids (PPA), UV stabilizers or antioxidants, in a carrier polymer. It changes how a plastic processes or performs rather than its color.

  • What does slip and anti-block masterbatch do?

The slip agent (erucamide) migrates to the film surface and lowers friction; the anti-block (micronized silica) gives the surface a fine texture so film layers don't stick together on the reel. MB-ADD-SAB brings kinetic COF below 0.20 after 24 hours with under 2% haze.

  • How much slip and anti-block masterbatch should I add?

1.0% – 2.0% in monolayer blown film, 1.5% – 3.0% in the skin layer of multilayer barrier film and 0.8% – 1.5% in lamination and liner films. Keep melt temperature below 250°C to protect the erucamide.

  • What is UV masterbatch?

UV masterbatch, or UV stabilizer masterbatch, is an additive masterbatch that carries UV stabilizers in a carrier polymer, so outdoor film, raffia and moulded parts resist fading in sunlight. AdCol makes it to order for your process, outdoor exposure and gauge. In black products, carbon black itself protects against UV: MB-BLK40-AG is rated for 5+ years UV stability.

  • Do you make PPA, UV stabilizer and antioxidant masterbatches?

Yes, to order. They are formulated for your process, outdoor exposure and gauge rather than sold from a fixed list, so tell the lab what is going wrong on the line or what the product must survive.
