Quality Control & Laboratory

Every masterbatch grade is released by the lab, not the line.

Melt flow, dispersion and color are measured before a lot leaves Rajkot. The same methods stand behind every typical value on our technical data sheets.

Core Tests

Three measurements that predict your line.

  • MFI testing

    ASTM D1238 / ISO 1133

Melt flow index at 190°C under 2.16 kg (and 21.6 kg for pipe grades) confirms the masterbatch will let down cleanly into your resin.

  • Dispersion analysis

    EN 13900-5 · ISO 18553 · DIN 53770

Filter pressure value at 14 μm, microtome dispersion rating and 45 μm mesh retention reveal agglomerates before they reach your screen pack.

  • Spectrophotometry

    Delta-E · CIE whiteness

Instrumental color measurement approves shades to Delta-E < 0.5 and verifies whiteness index on filler compounds.

Test Methods

The standards behind our TDS values.

Typical properties on our technical data sheets are reported against these international methods.

Shade Matching

The 48-hour lab loop.

Color matches follow the same documented four steps every time.

Color matching swatches
  1. 01

    Target Shade / Part Submission

Send a RAL or Pantone code, a reference part or a physical sample, with your base polymer and process.

  2. 02

    Carrier & MFI Calibration

We select the carrier and tune melt flow so the masterbatch lets down cleanly into your resin.

  3. 03

    48-Hour Plaque Extrusion

Lab plaques are extruded and checked by spectrophotometer to Delta-E < 0.5 within 48 hours.

  4. 04

    Trial Lot Dispatch (5–25 kg)

Approve the plaque and a 5 – 25 kg trial lot ships for your production line trial.

FAQ

Lab tests, answered.

  • What is a filter pressure value (FPV) test?

A dispersion test to EN 13900-5: melt is pushed through a fine 14 μm screen and the pressure rise is reported in bar/g. Lower values mean better dispersion, fewer screen changes and fewer specks in film. MB-W70-PE is specified at FPV < 0.8 bar/g and MB-BLK40-AG at FPV < 1.0 bar/g.

  • How is masterbatch MFI tested?

Melt flow index is measured to ASTM D1238 / ISO 1133 at 190°C under 2.16 kg, and under 21.6 kg for pipe grades, to confirm the masterbatch will let down cleanly into your resin.

  • How is carbon black dispersion rated?

By microtome dispersion rating to ISO 18553; MB-BLK40-AG is rated ≤ 2. Carbon black content is checked to ASTM D1603 / ISO 6964.
