Twin-screw compounding extrusion line

Machinery & Compounding Infrastructure

How masterbatch is made, from feed throat to finished pellet.

Masterbatch quality is set inside the extruder. Our lines are built on high-torque co-rotating twin-screw systems because they give the shear control that high pigment and filler loadings demand.

Process Flow

How a grade is made.

Five controlled stages between raw material and a released, packed lot.

  1. 01

    Raw material dosing

Pigments, fillers, additives and virgin carrier resins are weighed to the formulation.

  2. 02

    Twin-screw compounding

Co-rotating, intermeshing screws apply controlled shear to break agglomerates and wet every particle.

  3. 03

    Controlled melt

Barrel temperatures are held to protect heat-sensitive pigments and additives.

  4. 04

    Pelletizing

The melt is cut into uniform cylindrical or lens pellets for consistent dosing at your hopper.

  5. 05

    Packing

Released lots are packed in 25 kg moisture-barrier bags and palletised for dispatch.

Why Twin-Screw

Shear you can control.

Single-screw machines melt and convey. Co-rotating twin-screw extruders also knead, split and recombine the melt, so pigment agglomerates are broken down and wetted by the carrier. That is what keeps FPV low and films free of specks.

Masterbatch production floor
  • High-torque co-rotating twin-screw extruders

The heart of the plant: dispersive and distributive mixing for high-loading masterbatches up to 70% TiO₂ and 80% CaCO₃.

  • Pelletizers

Uniform pellet geometry, e.g. 38 – 45 cylindrical pellets per gram on MB-W70-PE, for even blending.

  • Plaque extrusion for shade matching

Lab-scale plaques for 48-hour color approval before a trial lot is produced.

  • MFI indexers & FPV filter testing

Melt flow and filter pressure checks that predict how a grade behaves on your line.

Packing & Dispatch

Packed to arrive dry.

Moisture is the enemy of masterbatch, carbon black especially. Each grade ships in packaging chosen for it: multi-wall kraft moisture-barrier bags for whites, UV-stabilized laminated PP woven bags for black, PE-lined kraft paper for additives and lined PP woven sacks for CaCO₃ compounds. All in 25 kg units, palletised.

Trial lots of 5 – 25 kg are dispatched from Rajkot for line trials before bulk orders.
